Join Book Club, hosted by Modern Classrooms Project, ScreenPal, Kami, and SchoolAI! We are convening a group of educators who are committed to their professional development and enhancing student learning to tackle two books this summer.

June: AI in Education

We'll explore preparing for AI, covering key AI concepts for educators to empower teaching and learning. We'll also tackle tackling bias, focusing on fixing unfair bias in educational AI through ethical considerations and practical solutions. Perfect for educators, administrators, and students interested in shaping a just AI future. Let's ensure AI serves all learners equitably.

Meet the Authors

Ken Shelton

Ken currently holds an M.A. in Education with a specialization in Educational Technology as well as New Media Design and Production. He has worked as an Educator for well over 20 years and spent most of his classroom practitioner time teaching technology at the Middle School level. Ken regularly gives keynotes, presentations, provides consulting and advisement support, and leads workshops, covering a wide variety of topics.

Dee Lanier

Dee Lanier is a passionate educator and edtech leader dedicated to creating equitable learning experiences. As lead education experience designer at Lanier Learning and education coach at Samsung, Dee empowers educators and students through innovative technology and design. With a strong background in sociology and over two decades as an educator, Dee is a sought-after speaker, author, and coach who inspires educators to transform classrooms.

July: The Identity-Conscious Educator

We'll reflect on the journey to identity awareness, recovering from failure, and what it means to design inclusive classrooms. We'll also tackle talking to students about disability and race. July’s book club will not only allow us to understand the building blocks of inclusive schools, it will give us the opportunity to deepen our understanding of ourselves and how we show up in the classroom.

Meet the Author: Liza Talusan

Liza Talusan is an educator, facilitator, and strategic change partner for organizations, corporations, leadership teams, schools and individuals who are looking to build their skills in areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and leadership. She leads with compassion and connection, even when conversations are difficult and challenging.
